Statisitc Observation of Amputation of Fingers


Abstract
A statistic observation was made on 60 patients for amputation of fingers, admitted to the 18th Army Hospital during January 1960 to June 1963.
As for the causation of amputation,36 cases(60%) were from accdent during labor, 9 cases from explosion, 8 cases from gun shot wound, 6 cases from inflammation and one case was due to car accident. the total number of amputated fingers was 101. The index finger amputation showed the highest percengeage. The proximal phalanx was the most in number (37 cases) according to the site amputated.
As to the mobility of the amputated site, those with basal amputation of each phalanx showed ankylosis, contracture and disturbance of mobility in the adjacent joint.
